SpaceX locks in US$40 billion to finance AI chips

Financing for AI chips

40 US$ billion

SpaceX disclosed a binding commitment for roughly US$40 billion in financing for AI chips and data centre equipment.

An entity managed by Apollo Global Management will buy the chips and lease them to SpaceX for about five years from delivery. The deal is expected to close by year-end.

Musk said debt markets have shut out firms without big revenue beyond AI data centres: "the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation."
