Canadian National Railway earned $1.21 billion in the quarter ended Sept 30, up from $1.14 billion a year earlier, or $2.00 per diluted share.

Revenue reached $4.77 billion, up from $4.17 billion. Adjusted earnings were $2.16 per diluted share, against $1.83 a year ago.
