CIBC names Bill Morneau its next board chair

Morneau, a former federal finance minister, takes over on Jan 1 from Katharine Stevenson, who retires from the board at the end of 2026.
Stevenson has chaired the bank for six years and been an independent director for 10. Morneau has been an independent director of CIBC since 2022.
Background
Before politics, Morneau led the human resources and pension services firm Morneau Shepell from 1990 to 2015. He now chairs NovaSource Power Services and is a director at Clairvest Group.
