Norway may let its wealth fund invest in nuclear weapons makers
The proposal
A government-appointed commission proposed on Thursday that the 2 trillion euro fund may invest in arms makers based in a recognised nuclear-weapon state that is also a NATO ally of Norway.
Among the 14 companies excluded today
- Airbus
- BAE Systems
- Boeing
- Lockheed Martin
- Safran
The fund now excludes 14 companies for their work on nuclear weapons, including Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Safran.
“The Norwegian fund cannot invest in companies that could be crucial for Norway's security,” said Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg, calling it a paradox.
