Halloween treats vs 2025

15.3 % higher

An analysis by the Groundwork Collaborative and the Century Foundation found popular Halloween chocolate and confectionery cost 15.3 per cent more than in 2025.

A tonne of cocoa hit a high of more than US$10,700 in January 2025 after severe weather hit supplies. A food-business professor said the cocoa now being used was bought when prices were high.

Halloween treat sales were down 11.7 per cent by mid-September and 6.7 per cent by mid-October, according to NielsenIQ. Shoppers are buying more as Halloween nears, but smaller packs are selling better than large ones.
