TotalEnergies cuts diesel to 2.15 euros a litre at some French stations
The price falls 10 cents on Saturday at 705 stations, which account for 60 per cent of the company's fuel sales. Other stations outside motorways follow on Monday, Nov 2, depending on the diesel market.
Background
The move comes before France releases 10 million barrels of diesel from its strategic reserves, announced on Oct 12 and spread over three months. The economy minister said any distributor that gets that diesel must sell it at cost.
The company keeps its 2.25 euro a litre cap on diesel across its French network. It also offers farmers, public-works firms and fishers 20 cents off a litre of off-road diesel.
