Mexico City's giant Catrina sets a Guinness record

Height of the Catrina

33.4 metres tall

The Catrina stands 33.4 metres tall, beating the previous record of about 28 metres held by a figure in Puerto Vallarta.

It stands in the Plaza de la Constitución, known as the Zócalo, as part of the city's monumental Day of the Dead altar.

Mexico City head of government Clara Brugada said the figure is a critique of vanity, classism and false appearances.
