Immigration raids shadow a tight California House race

Since early October, federal agents have fanned out across California's Central Valley in a 45-day operation called Operation Save California.

The Department of Homeland Security says the raids target people in the US illegally, while farmworker groups and local officials describe a dragnet.

The raids became a flashpoint in the 22nd district, where Republican incumbent David Valadao faced Democrat Randy Villegas in Tuesday's midterm vote. Polls suggested a tight race.
