537,518 vehicles
Toyota's Ontario plants built 537,518 vehicles last year, making it the largest vehicle manufacturer in Canada.
“We're fully committed to making cars in Canada for the long-term.”
— Scott MacKenzie, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada
Cutting back in Canada
- GM: a shift cut at its truck plant near Toronto
- GM: output ended in Ingersoll, Ontario
- Stellantis: production halted at a Toronto-area plant
- Honda: a $15 billion EV battery plan scrapped
Other carmakers are cutting back in Canada under US tariffs, and the White House threatens to raise auto tariffs to 50 per cent without a broader trade deal by Jan 1.
