Thousands protest across Poland for legal abortion

Towns and cities with protests

20+ towns and cities

Protesters gathered in more than 20 towns and cities on the sixth anniversary of a near-total abortion ban imposed by the country's top court.

Parliament passed two bills easing abortion restrictions days ago, but Poland's conservative president, Karol Nawrocki, is likely to veto them.

Background

Abortion is legal in Poland only when a pregnancy results from a crime such as rape or incest, or threatens the mother's life or health.
