Marine Le Pen widens her lead in the first French poll since the Oct 17 unrest

A new Ifop-Fiducial poll gives Le Pen 34 to 38 per cent of first-round votes in the 2027 presidential election, up one to two points.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon would face her in the runoff in every scenario tested, with 16 to 16.5 per cent. The centrist candidates lost the most ground.

Le Pen's share in a runoff

• vs Jean-Luc Mélenchon: 68%
• vs François Hollande: 59%
• vs Gabriel Attal: 58%
• vs Raphaël Glucksmann: 57%
• vs Édouard Philippe: 56%

In a runoff, Le Pen would beat every opponent tested, with 68 per cent against Mélenchon.
