The Justice Department sues to block certification of Alaska's Senate race
The suit says an independent candidate named Daniel J Sullivan is running to mislead voters looking for Republican Senator Dan Sullivan. It asks a federal judge to delay certification so the vote can be investigated.

Alaska's Supreme Court rejected an earlier Republican bid to remove the independent from the ballot in June. Under ranked-choice voting, voters can pick both Sullivans.
Control of the US Senate could come down to Alaska, where Sullivan faces former Democratic congresswoman Mary Peltola. A poll earlier this month showed Peltola one point ahead.
