Western Sydney International Airport sends off its first flight on Sunday

West of Sydney's centre

44 km

The airport sits about 44 km west of Sydney's centre and runs around the clock, unlike Sydney's main airport, which has a night curfew.

First airlines

  • Jetstar: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne
  • Air New Zealand: Auckland from Oct 26
  • Singapore Airlines: Singapore from Nov 23
  • Qantas: Melbourne, Brisbane from Mar 2027

Jetstar flies the first service, and Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines start within a month.

There is no direct train at opening, so passengers must use buses or roads until the rail line is finished.
