Appeals court upholds Apple TV's win in the 'Servant' copyright case

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected filmmaker Francesca Gregorini's appeal, keeping a jury verdict that the series did not copy her film "The Truth About Emanuel."

Both stories follow a grieving mother who becomes attached to a doll, but the jury found that is where the similarities end. It watched the film and the series' first three episodes.

"Clearly, 100% a misunderstanding," M. Night Shyamalan said in court before the original ruling.
