Miyamoto says human designers will keep a role in the age of AI

Even if AI were to eventually handle everything, there will always be a role left for us to play.

— Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo

He likens generative AI to the shift from typewriters to word processors, and says the more AI replaces tasks, the more it lets designers reflect on what is really important.

Background

Miyamoto spoke at a press conference on Oct 23. Nintendo has not ruled out using generative AI, while Square Enix's CEO has said the company will be aggressive in applying it.
