More than 130 arrested as French protests resume without last week's violence

Arrests so far on Saturday

130 people arrested

French police arrested more than 130 people and fired tear gas in Lyon, but the interior minister said there was no major incident by midday.

Some 2,700 people were arrested after last weekend's violence, and shopowners count damage in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Many Paris retailers boarded up their windows this time.

[Macron] is going to understand that this is going to repeat itself every week.

— Jean-Luc Mélenchon, far-left presidential candidate
