About 100 incidents were counted on the rail network after gusts well above 100 km/h, notably in the Manche area.

More than 400 rail staff are repairing severely damaged overhead power lines. Service resumed gradually on several lines from 2 p.m. local time on Saturday.

What's next

Lines between Caen and Cherbourg could reopen later on a single track, and disruption could continue Sunday morning as another storm, Boelo, is expected in Normandy.
