Storm Boelo brings wind, rain and flood alerts to the UK

Amber wind warnings cover Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and northern England, with gusts of about 95 to 115 km/h expected and up to 130 km/h on exposed coasts.

The Environment Agency issued 13 flood warnings, where flooding is expected, and 66 flood alerts, where it is possible, late Saturday. Homes and roads were already flooded in parts of Wales.

Nine outbound and 10 inbound flights were cancelled at Dublin Airport on Saturday, and Edinburgh Castle is closed Sunday. A Liverpool light festival was cancelled.

What's next

The amber warning runs until 9 p.m. Sunday, local time. The Met Office warns of danger to life from flying debris and large waves, and urges people to secure loose items and stay indoors.
