Film clapperboard and a red switch

Nathan Fielder negotiated a "kill switch" for his Elizabeth Holmes film

Co-director Lance Oppenheim said Fielder asked A24 for a clause letting them scrap the project at any time. If they found nothing, they could throw it all away.

Time left

34 days before Holmes's prison date

Filming began with just 34 days left before Holmes was set to go to prison.

Fielder worried the story had been told so many times already, in a podcast, a book, a documentary and a TV series.

Oppenheim said the clause meant they were operating purely out of curiosity.
