A suspect is held after a shooting that killed one in a Paris suburb

On Friday morning a man fired bursts from his car in Trappes and La Verrière, in the Yvelines. One man was killed and five people were wounded, including a 12-year-old girl who remains in critical condition.

France's national anti-terrorism prosecutor took over the case. President Emmanuel Macron called it a racist terrorist attack.

Prosecutors said the suspect had rigged his apartment with gas bottles and a timer, and four people close to him were also held. He was later sent for psychiatric observation.
