Thousands protest in Prague against public media funding reforms

The bill would abolish household licence fees and fund public radio and television from the state budget, cutting their funding by about 15 per cent.

The lower house approved fast-tracking the bill in an overnight vote on Saturday. The upper house must still pass it, and the opposition plans a constitutional court challenge.
