Storms Boelo and Austen left more than 82,000 homes in the United Kingdom, nearly 60,000 in France and at least 10,000 in Germany without power on Sunday.

A falling tree killed a man, 60, in southwestern Scotland, where winds reached 135 km/h. Hundreds of flights were cancelled or diverted across northern Europe.

In Germany, the main hospital in the Freiburg-Breisgau area limited service to emergencies after a blackout that also cut the mobile network.
