Rahul Gandhi is acquitted in a defamation case over 2018 remarks about Amit Shah

A court in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, acquitted the Congress leader on Monday, Oct 26. He was present for the verdict, after securing bail in 2023.

Background

The complaint was filed in August 2018 by Bharatiya Janata Party politician Vijay Mishra over remarks Gandhi made at a Bengaluru rally before that year's Karnataka election. The verdict had first been set for Oct 13.
