Former FBI director James Comey faces a third set of federal charges

Prosecutors filed two counts of unlawfully disclosing national defence information, tied to an alleged leak to a reporter in October 2016, when Comey led the FBI.

"I'm still innocent, and I'm still not afraid of these people."

His lawyer says two earlier reviews brought no charges. The case was filed as a criminal information, which skips a grand jury, and his team has moved to dismiss it.

Background

Comey was indicted in Sep 2025 for lying to Congress, a case dismissed in November, and charged in April over an "86 47" post, a case that is ongoing.
