Neil Young sues Trump's political committee for US$10 million over a song
The suit says Trump 47 Committee Inc. played Rockin' in the Free World to usher Donald Trump onstage at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on Oct 12. It was filed in federal court in Richmond, Virginia.
Background
In 2020, Young sued another Trump corporation over the same song, and it settled. The suit says it promised never to use the song again without a licence and Young's permission.
Damages sought
10 million US dollars
Young asks for $10 million in damages plus costs, and for an injunction against further use of the song for political purposes.
"Young has suffered damage to his reputation and brand as a result of the implication that he supports Donald J. Trump in any way."
