Greenhouse gas concentrations hit records in 2025, the UN says

CO2 concentration, 2025

426.8 ppm

The World Meteorological Organization put the global average CO2 concentration at 426.8 parts per million in 2025, or 153 per cent of the 1750 level.

CO2 rose 2.8 ppm between 2024 and 2025, above the decade average but less than the jump of 2023-24, partly because wildfires emitted less carbon.

"A new year, a new record."
