Zimbabwe vice-president's ex-wife freed after seven years on remand
Marry Mubaiwa was charged in 2019 with trying to kill her then husband, Gen Constantino Chiwenga, now Zimbabwe's vice-president. He accused her of impeding his medical treatment in South Africa.

- Whether the state seeks a new trial
A magistrate ordered her release, saying she had suffered mental, physical and financial prejudice during the trial. The ruling came after the state asked to postpone the trial by a month.
Her lawyer called the ruling a victory that came too late, because her rights were violated by the delay. If the state seeks a new trial, he said, the defence will deal with it then.
