UK Green member behind the "Zionism is racism" motion says she has received death threats

Lubna Speitan, a British-Palestinian artist and Green Party member, says she has received dozens of messages and emails with death and rape threats since the vote. She says she has reported them to police.

What the motion says

  • Zionism is a form of racism
  • One democratic state in historic Palestine
  • Anti-Zionism is not antisemitism

The motion defines Zionism as a form of racism, backs a single democratic state in historic Palestine and says anti-Zionism should not be equated with antisemitism.

The conference vote

1 022 votes for 813 votes against

The Green Party of England and Wales passed the motion by 1,022 votes to 813 at its conference in Brighton earlier this month.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham ruled out partnering with the Greens on Thursday, calling the motion "wrong" and "anti-Semitic". Several of the party's own MPs have also criticized it.
