Trump says a meeting with Putin and Zelenskyy could come soon

Trump told reporters the US is making great progress on Russia and Ukraine. He did not say what format a meeting would take, and Moscow and Kyiv had not commented.

US, Russian and Ukrainian officials are due to hold three-way talks in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November. Zelenskyy said they could cover an energy truce, Black Sea shipping safety and grain exports.

On Oct 27, Putin spoke by phone with Finland's president and Norway's prime minister, the first direct talks with European leaders since July 2025. A Kremlin aide said the Abu Dhabi talks would be exploratory.

Trump gave no format for the meeting, and neither Moscow nor Kyiv had responded. Zelenskyy says territory and an end to the war can only be settled by the leaders.
