The first round of the presidential and legislative elections is set for Jul 18, 2027, with a second round on Oct 4.
It is the third date set for the vote. Early in October, the electoral council postponed the elections planned for the end of 2026 indefinitely.
Background
Haiti has not held an election since 2016, and its last president, assassinated in 2021, was never replaced. 19 people have already registered as presidential candidates, including two former presidents.
Gang violence is hampering preparations: several communes have no registration centres, and fewer than 900,000 people are registered in a country with about 7 million of voting age.
