Dockworkers in 22 countries strike over weapons shipments and the war in Gaza
Ports taking part
110 ports
More than 25 unions representing 110 ports are taking part in Friday's International Day of Action. Strikes last 24 hours in France, Italy, India, Greece and Turkiye, and up to two hours in Morocco and Cyprus.
The unions demand an immediate end to the war in Gaza and recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. A campaign group that tracks arms supply chains says it expects more than $2 billion worth of cargo to sit idle.
Greek union leader Markos Bekris, who faces prosecution over a 2024 blockade of an ammunition container bound for Israel, said: "We refuse to let them be stained with the blood of other people."
