30 % of land and oceans

A long-awaited global review of progress under the 2022 Kunming-Montréal agreement is also still pending. The agreement sets 23 targets for 2030, including protecting 30 per cent of land and oceans.

The European Union is pushing richer emerging economies such as China to contribute more, with little progress. Delegates also decide Friday whether Panama or Ecuador hosts the 2028 summit.
