Spanish train drivers strike, halting Ouigo and Renfe services
Drivers across Renfe walked out for 24 hours on Thursday over stalled contract talks and blocked safety agreements. Four Madrid commuter lines were suspended and the rest of the network was badly disrupted.
Ouigo trains cancelled
40 trains
A court suspended the minimum-service order for Ouigo's strike, so the operator cancelled all its trains on Oct 30 and Nov 2. That stops about 40 trains and affects almost 20,000 travellers.
Background
The strike comes a day after a collision near Urda, Toledo, between two high-speed trains. The drivers' union Semaf said it is keeping the action in defence of rail safety.
