Boulder firebomb attacker pleads guilty to federal hate crimes

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 47, pleaded guilty Thursday in a Denver federal court to nine hate-crime counts and three explosives charges. The plea deal asks for life in prison plus 50 years.

Background

On June 1, 2025, he threw two Molotov cocktails at a rally for hostages held by Hamas. The US Department of Justice said he admitted attacking the group because of its Jewish religion and Israeli national origin; 82-year-old Karen Diamond later died of her injuries.
