Hanwha Defense USA won a US$269 million order to build one Medium Landing Ship at Hanwha Philly Shipyard, with options for three more.
It is Hanwha's first contract to build ships for the US Navy. The order comes through TOTE Services, which manages ship construction under a US$2.2 billion contract.
Construction is to start in the fourth quarter of 2027, and the first ship is expected to be delivered in 2030.

35 ships
The Navy and Marine Corps plan a fleet of 35 Medium Landing Ships. Hanwha announced this week that it is acquiring a controlling stake in the shipyard.
