FBI blames North Korea for the Binance hack, the biggest crypto heist in history

The FBI said Saturday the theft was tied to a group known as TraderTraitor, the same actors behind the US$1.5 billion Bybit hack last year. It asked crypto exchanges and analytics firms to block transactions linked to the addresses involved.

  • Thieves are converting assets into ethereum

  • Whether the US president agrees North Korea did it

The FBI says the thieves are mainly converting the stolen assets into ethereum, but President Donald Trump said "we don't know if it's North Korea".

A crypto expert expects the hackers to split the funds and launder them through smaller exchanges over months. "We can also track and trace those funds in real time," he said.
