Snap settles a lawsuit over teen depression and eating disorders

Two teenagers accused Snap of designing its platform to be addictive and contributing to their depression, anxiety and eating disorders. They had already settled with Meta, TikTok and YouTube.

Why it matters

The trial was set to be Snap's first in a wider wave of cases over social media's effect on young users, and CEO Evan Spiegel was expected to testify.

The parties are pleased to have been able to resolve this matter in an amicable manner.
