The Front for the Refoundation of the Nation was unveiled Monday in Goma, the rebel-held capital of North Kivu, and says it will oppose President Félix Tshisekedi, including by force. It replaces the Congo River Alliance and brings in several armed groups.

Three rebel leaders become Kabila's vice-presidents: Corneille Nangaa, Bertrand Bisimwa and M23 military commander Sultani Makenga.
"He has nothing to offer but chaos," government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya said, adding that Kinshasa remains committed to the dialogue launched by the president.

Background
Kabila ruled the country from 2001 to 2019. In September 2025, the High Military Court sentenced him to death in absentia for treason and other charges linked to the M23; his camp calls the case political.
