Michigan Democrat Haley Stevens endorses Republican Mike Rogers for Senate

Stevens, a US representative who lost the August primary to Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, appeared with Rogers at a Detroit church service on Sunday, two days before the election. She had been uninvited from a joint event with El-Sayed that day.

Michigan's Democratic Party chair, Curtis Hertel, said her decision "shows that she has abandoned everything she claims to care about". Senator Chuck Schumer said Senate Democrats are "united in our support" for El-Sayed.

Background

The two had clashed over an advert from an outside liberal group that blamed Israel for high food prices. El-Sayed criticised the advert and said he had nothing to do with it.
