What is running short

  • Health workers
  • Medicines
  • Medical equipment
  • Ambulance services

Hospitals face shortages of health workers, medicines and equipment, ambulance services are severely limited, and insecurity is blocking medical supplies to some areas, Tedros said.

Jaari 2 displacement camp

Amhara, Ethiopia

At least 15 people, several of them children, were killed on Friday in drone strikes on the Jaari 2 camp for displaced people in the Amhara region, rescue workers said. Tedros did not say who carried out the attacks.

Background

Renewed fighting between an alliance of Tigray rebels and the federal government in Addis Ababa has all but shattered the peace agreement the two sides signed in November 2022.
