Trump administration sues California over its voter rolls

Names on the Justice Department's list

20,000 alleged noncitizen voters

The US Justice Department sued California on Thursday after the state missed a 48-hour deadline to review a list it says holds 20,000 noncitizens registered to vote.

The lawsuit, filed in a US District Court in California, asks the judge to stop the state from counting mail-in ballots from voters on that list.

This is an emergency of the DOJ’s creation.

Weber says no list was ever sent to her office, and Governor Gavin Newsom calls the suit an attempt to suppress voters before the Nov 3 midterm elections.
