US envoy Steve Witkoff said Ukrainian and Russian delegations will meet in Abu Dhabi, the first three-way talks since February. The Kremlin confirmed a Russian delegation will attend.
On the agenda
- Post-war security agreements
- De-escalation
- Humanitarian measures
- Ending the war
Witkoff said the talks will cover post-war security agreements, de-escalation, humanitarian measures and ending the war.
Zelenskyy said he hopes the adviser-level talks will open the way to a meeting of the three leaders, including Vladimir Putin. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he does not yet see Russia seriously engaging.
Background
European governments want a seat at the table but are unlikely to be in Abu Dhabi. US envoys are to meet French, German, British, EU and NATO officials in Brussels this week.
