Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said two missiles landed near the runway on Friday, 500 metres from a plane preparing to take off. All passengers and crew were safe, he said.

A day earlier, at least five people were killed near the presidential palace in Aden after Houthi missile strikes. Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani was at the palace and was unharmed.

The Houthis said Friday's attack targeted a Saudi forces' command headquarters and a weapons depot in Aden province.

Background

The civil war between the Saudi-backed government and the Iran-aligned Houthis has reignited. Houthi forces have encircled Taiz, Yemen's third-largest city, by cutting its main road to Aden.
