Scotland's first minister told the SNP conference in Aberdeen on Oct 17 that a campaign called Choose Scotland will make the case for leaving the UK, backed by a six-figure war chest.

The SNP has eight MPs, and one poll this week gave it 28 seats at the next general election, which party figures say could let it hold the balance of power in a hung parliament.

Only the UK government can grant a second independence referendum, and Prime Minister Andy Burnham said on Oct 16 that Scotland should focus on the cost of living instead.

I just feel we all have to move beyond the constitutional questions.
