1 100 000 still helped 500 000 lose their aid

The World Food Programme said Monday it will cut the number of people it helps each month in Gaza from 1.6 million to 1.1 million.

What changes

  • One food parcel per family instead of two
  • Smaller bags of flour
  • Hot meals cut from 250,000 to 150,000 a day

Families will get one food parcel instead of two, bags of flour will be smaller, and daily hot meals will fall from 250,000 to 150,000.

The agency said it received less than half its usual funding for 2026 and urgently needs another US$450 million for the next six months.

"The flour isn't enough and the food boxes aren't enough either."
