Justice Kagan says Supreme Court rulings fuel polarization

“The court has kind of blinded itself to the very deleterious effect of their rulings on how the political system works.”

— Justice Elena Kagan

Speaking two weeks before the midterms, she criticized rulings that weakened the Voting Rights Act and campaign finance rules and opened the door to more partisan gerrymandering.

She added it is unfair to say the majority reflexively backs the president, citing rulings against Trump on tariffs, birthright citizenship and mail ballots.
