NASA lays out the Artemis III moon-lander test flight

Launch order

• New Glenn: Blue Moon lander
• SLS: Orion and its crew
• Starship: docking test

Three rockets will fly from Florida: New Glenn with Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander, then SLS with the Orion crew, then SpaceX's Starship.

Orion docks with Blue Moon on Flight Day 3 and the crew enters the lander to test life support and emergencies. Starship follows for a two-hour docking test, without the crew going aboard.

Mission length

14 days

The planned mission is 14 days, and could last as long as 17.

What's next

NASA targets next summer, but an internal memo last month said Artemis III was about 90 days behind schedule.
