Study finds Grok backs Republicans and OpenAI's model backs Democrats

Grok 4.7

92% Republican

GPT-6.1 Sol

97% Democrat

Asked through their APIs to name one candidate, Grok 4.7 picked the Republican in 92 per cent of answers and GPT-6.1 Sol picked the Democrat in 97 per cent.

Across nearly 500 races, the two models agreed less than 10 per cent of the time, according to a study by the research studio Convovo.

OpenAI says the study used a developer API with a prompt demanding a recommendation, and that ChatGPT declines to say who to vote for. The consumer apps refused to answer in the study.

The study comes less than two weeks before the midterms. Only 8 per cent of Americans use chatbots for election information, according to Pew.
