Apple unveils M6 iMac with a faster chip and Wi-Fi 7

The M6 iMac replaces the M4 model from 2024, so Apple has skipped an M5 iMac. The M6 chip adds more CPU and GPU cores and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Five headline changes

Faster CPU performance
Stronger graphics
Improved AI processing
Faster SSDs
Upgraded networking

The update brings five headline changes: faster CPU performance, stronger graphics, improved AI processing, faster SSDs and upgraded networking.

Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 join available 2.5Gb Ethernet, and Apple says SSD read and write speeds are up to twice those of the previous generation.

The 24-inch design stays, with seven colours, a 4.5K Retina display and colour-matched accessories. A larger screen or a major redesign is not part of this update.
