Anthropic's IPO filing shows US$16.3 billion in revenue and heavy losses

Revenue, first half of 2026

16.3 US$ billion

Anthropic's filing shows US$16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026, up from US$4.585 billion in all of 2025. It also shows a loss of about US$80 billion, much of it a one-off charge of US$72.4 billion.

A Long-Term Benefit Trust can appoint most of the board, and seven co-founders hold 50.1 per cent of the voting power. Ordinary shareholders will rarely decide anything.

Risks the filing names

  • Misuse by bad actors
  • Loss of control
  • Authoritarian abuse
  • Economic disruption

The filing names four main risks from AI itself: misuse, loss of control, authoritarian abuse and economic disruption. It also says its safeguards are incomplete.

What's next

The filing leaves out third-quarter results. Shares are expected to begin trading between Nov 9 and US Thanksgiving.
